A 2002 Review of the
by Ken Hancock
Following the world-wide success of Ken Hancock's 1998 Review of the Distribution of the Native Cacti of Canada, Ken has been working, over the last four years, to update and improve the review. The result is the 2002 Review of the Distribution of the Native Cacti of Canada. Although following the same basic lines of the original book, including details of locations and the personal field notes of the various contributors, this 220 page, 8Ĺ" x 11" publication almost doubles the number of locations to 451. New to this book are detailed maps showing every location identified in Canada's five most Westerly provinces where the native cacti are found. The review boasts 35 colour photos, all taken in the field and identified against the locations given in the body of the book. In this issue the photographs include a number of type locations for the cacti as well as photographs of the type plants themselves and some of their variations. A must for all those interested in hardy cacti.
